Dear Step Parent,
There is a good work God has sent you to do and complete in the life of that child.
However, it is unfortunate that some step parents out of ignorance or unnecessary wickedness forget the assignment God has given them to do and the position they occupy in the lives of children.
There is the story of a woman who God gave the opportunity to parent a step child, but she wrongly brought up the child.
She abused her step child physically, emotionally/psychologically and verbally through her words and actions.
She said so many negative things about the child to everyone, she treated her children better than the child. This made step child struggle all through childhood.
At the end of the day the woman created a division among the children.
Her step child and her children were not united. This created a big problem in the family that was very difficult to remedy, because she didn’t teach the children to be united.
The bible says a house that is divided against itself will fall. Mark 3:25
A parent/guardian will be creating a dangerous division if he/she is treating their biological children better than their step child.
The outcome can be disastrous and will end in regrets
The parental position is highly influential. Every parent(step parent inclusive) will give account of the children God gave them the opportunity to cater for.
Trying to maltreat and rubbish another persons child is not wise.
It could be tasking trying to raise another persons child as they would display some unexpected attitudes but it is rewarding if you do a good job.
I encourage and plead with all step parents to use their influence positively in the lives of the children.
It is true it won’t be an easy task, the journey to parenting another persons child will require love, care, positive thinking about the child and great patience.
The Lord will give grace to every step parent/guardian.
