The ripple effect of child abuse can be very dangerous on any child. It affects all the areas of the child.
A young lady was sent out of school because she was performing below expectation in her courses. She couldn’t pass her exams. The abuse she suffered as as a child affected her so much that she was filled with anger and bitterness. This made her not to concentrate in anything including her academics.
Another teenager who suffered neglect and emotional abuse from his father grew up as street boy, engaging in all the dubious and unlawful activities with criminals.
A certain boy went through a lot of verbal and physical abuse from his guardian. It was so devastating that he lost his life while trying to escape from the constant abuse.
If parents and guardians know the effect of abuse on a child as seen in some cases above, they will be more careful in handling them.
Every parent should positively get involved in the lives of their children, through their action and deeds. Parents and guardians have great influence over their children and teenagers.
Their actions can help or worsen the state of the child or teenager. Children and teenagers need the support and care of parents/guardians and family to be able to live a stable life.
However, It is sad that some parents, guardians and family members are the principal abusers of most children and teenagers in our society.
Preventing the child from getting abuse in the home is a great way to end child abuse.
